A definite classic that clearly stands the test of time, having been made into (another) movie just last year.

Murder mysteries have long been in style, some giving more payoff than others. How Agatha Christie can mastermind the architecture of this murder and still make it payoff eighty years later is astounding!

After experiencing the slow, methodic thought and attention to detail of Hercule Poirot, I can’t help but feel like I’m speeding through life, ignoring the periphery and steamrolling ahead with tunnel vision. The events that unfold on the Orient Express are an unexpected reminder to stop and smell the roses, and then question the roses about who they saw last night and if they smoke with a pipe or not.

There isn’t much else that can be said that hasn’t been said millions of times. A quick, engaging read with one of fiction’s greatest detectives on a stranded train, working to solve a murder. What more could you want?
